Maya First models

Before the project began, we had introduction lessons into Maya and how to use it's software, in those lessons I got the basic understanding of how to create a model form pictures, so with that over the holidays I decided to create some models.

This fire extinguisher was done during the directed study lessons, it has a very simple design to it, however because I was a complete beginner to Maya it took me a good few hours to make.  Now though I feel like I can make this in 1/2 hour to an hour depending on how far I could take the design.  This was made with very basic shapes, and with a mixture of extruding, scaling, rotating, moving and beveling it was completed.

This incomplete Wii remote was the second model I did it the directed study session, it's design is a bit more complicated than the last one, due to the nunchuk being very organic shaped, at the time it was very difficult for me to complete, however I feel I can finish it now. I'll leave it until after our practise model hand in is over.

This last model is supposed to be an x-ray scanning machine of some type, however once again I was unable to finish it in the directed study session due to my lack of skills with Maya.  I doubt I will continue to finish it because I didn't particularly enjoy working on this model due to it's difficultly, however if I do have some free time I may put a couple of hours towards it's completion.

This was the first model I did at home it is Kami's Lookout from Dragon Ball Z, It was also the first model I completed.  I felt as though this model was the jump I needed to help me get faster at created Maya sculpts, after I finished this piece I have found that all my other models have been completed a lot quicker, but at that point I had gotten used to where all the necessary tools where.  This model was also a lot of fun to create because I was making a model from a TV series that I really liked.  The only downsides to this model where the length it took to make, and that I forgot to add trees into the piece, however it does take a while to make a tree in Maya.  I may add them if I have time at the end of the project to truly complete the model.
